Ray Scott (R-Grand Junction) is usually wrong about things when he posts on social media. He’s one of those categorical partisans who will find a way to bend his principles to fit whatever narrative finds Republicans in the right and Democrats in the wrong.

County Commissioner Mark Waller thinks anecdotal evidence is fine for he but not for thee
I ran across this post by former state legislator turned El Paso County Commissioner Mark Waller (R) in which he claims a link between an increasing homeless population in Colorado and the legalization of cannabis. To support his view, he links to this article, which doesn’t contain a shred of supporting evidence for the claim other than anecdotal quotes and data that does not support a causal conclusion.
State Sen. Ray Scott says something dumb and the sun rises, example number 1,000,000
You might remember State Senator Ray Scott (R-Grand Junction) from the many dumb things he says and false claims he makes. I don’t use the word “dumb” recklessly here. Normally I prefer “ignorant” because people might not know better, but in this case I think it fits.
Tim Neville either does or doesn’t support tax funding of private schools, depending on what is taught
Colorado State Senator Tim Neville (R) is a big proponent of tax dollars in the form of vouchers going to religious schools that have exclusionary enrollment and teach religion to the kids (see the Douglas County rules that were struck down by the court as a violation of the Constitution). That seems to change when the values being taught aren’t the ones to which he ascribes. I would actually agree with him here if he weren’t such a hypocrite.
Three days in the Fever Swamps™ and not a single mention of 25 million dollar fraud settlement
There’s a lot of talk about the “bubble” that people are living in when they engage in social media. This weekend provided a perfect example.
A Colorado lawmaker either doesn’t read the things he shares on Facebook, or he assumes his readers won’t
Although the Daily Signal isn’t a “fake” news site by the definition, the article Colorado State Sen. Tim Neville (R-Littleton) is citing is intentionally misleading—cherry-picking a report that actually shows immigrants make a net-positive contribution to our country by the time they’ve lived here for a few generations.
All the times a anti-PC GOP candidate for Congress called me “racist”
GOP U. S. House Candidate Casper Stockham is so ironic he’s not ironic at all. I first ran across him in the #FeverSwamps™ soon after he began running in the Republican primary to face popular incumbent Diana Degette in one of the most liberal districts in Colorado. He posted some anti-transgender memes and statements on Facebook, and I called him out as the bigot that he is.
Colorado House candidate Raymond Garcia lets his tits hang out
Lookie here, our favorite “OMG” valley-girl-talking Republican candidate for Colorado’s House is posting extremely stupid things on the internet again. Here he is claiming a picture of two (unidentified) topless women in San Francisco are Hillary Clinton and her lesbian lover in college.
Wondering if Republican county vice-chair Sampson is wrong on the internet? Answer: high probability
The vice chair of Adams County Republicans typifies the level of fact-checking that often goes into GOP social media posts—none. Here’s John “massive voter fraud” Sampson posting a picture “worth a thousand words” that is 100 percent not Michelle Obama but rather Washington Post columnist Helena Andrews. This shows you the level of gullibility necessary to remain ensconced in the fact-free zone of a Republican confirmation bias bubble.
John Sampson is Vice Chair of Adams County GOP and facts are a liberal plot
This is John Sampson. He is Vice-Chair of Adams County GOP. He says he’ll be posting Hillary Clinton quotes for his audience to ponder. So he started with this one:
