When you want to imply something that isn’t true, how do you do it? You do it with a misleading headline, of course. Here we have 630-AM KHOW’s Michael Brown, radio host and infamously inept and under-qualified head of FEMA under the George W. Bush administration, showing how it’s done:
Four people kidnap and torture a man. They’re caught and charged with crimes that will likely keep them in prison for life. For the GOP, this is proof that Obama and Black Lives Matter are racist and responsible for the crimes.
A while back, Denver blogger Jason Salzman called the GOP’s Otero County Chair Judy Reyher to ask about seemingly racist posts on her Facebook page—things like complaining that black people are “hate filled beings” and many other examples. At the time she denied being a racist.
With all the stories about “fake news” in the election, you would think someone like Casper Stockham (R-Colorado), Dianna Degette’s (D-Colorado) opponent in the recent Colorado CD1 election, would be reluctant to post fake news on his Facebook page.
First things first. I have to credit Colorado State House Republican Justin Everett for being willing to defend his views on twitter. I’ve been blocked by dozens of Republican lawmakers for simply arguing against their positions, even when I’ve done so in a polite and respectful way.
U.S. Rep. Doug Lamborn (R-Colorado) seems to admit that there is no actual GOP “replacement” for the Affordable Care Act, despite the fact that he seems to be in a great hurry to repeal it.
District 59’s GOP representative J Paul Brown (R) is apparently a big fan of Cliven Bundy, the freeloading rancher who wants taxpayers to fund his ranching because he apparently isn’t very good at it. Bundy is also a racist, as the following quote illustrates:
Sometimes a Facebook post just speaks for itself. In this case, Elbert County Commissioner sees a fake-newsy article containing a lovely Christmas Card from the Obama family and feels compelled to insult the first lady by saying they had to Photoshop her face to make it “presentable”.
Derrick Wilburn is the Vice-Chair of the Colorado Republican Party. He says a lot of nutty stuff on Facebook with a self-assurance that probably seems impressive to those prone to believing it. The trouble is, Wilburn really doesn’t seem to know much about anything, be it public policy, history, or, in this case, vaccination.
With all the news about fake news, you’d think recently ousted State Senator Laura Woods (R-Arvada) would be a bit more careful about promoting nonsense on Facebook. In this example, the assertion is that people are being “viciously attacked” for saying “Merry Christmas.”
