2022 has been an eventful year for U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO). The controversial Silt Republican freshman, up for reelection this year, won a sweeping victory in her GOP primary race, and was expected to do the same in the general election this November. Those expectations were turned on their heads on Election Day, as Boebert found herself locked in a tight race with her Democratic opponent Adam Frisch, which she would ultimately win by 551 votes – less than 1% of the total count.
One day after a gunman killed five people and injured 18 more at an LGBTQ bar in Colorado Springs, Woodland Park TV evangelist and right-wing Christian pundit Andrew Wommack condemned homosexuality as a tool of Satan and complained that the media coverage of the shooting “went overboard” and was afraid to speak out against homosexuality.
Anti-LGBTQ rhetoric is on the rise across the U.S. and in Colorado, and drag shows have become a central target of the right. Conservatives have attacked and vilified drag shows and performers, saying they are part of a left-wing effort to indoctrinate children through grooming.

When Sol Sandoval came within a few hundred votes in June of becoming the Democratic Party’s candidate for the House seat held by Lauren Boebert, a male election pundit said she didn’t win the primary because she was too progressive for many voters in Colorado Congressional District 3.
In response to a records request from the Colorado Times Recorder, the Garfield County, Colorado, Court stated through a spokesperson that it has no record of U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert’s (R-CO) restaurant — which closed this year — paying a debt assessed by Judge Jonathan Prototsky in 2017.
