DSA Chapters Lead Protests Against White Nationalists Across Colorado
Colorado chapters of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) led protests against controversial speakers at two separate events last week. The Mesa County DSA led a protest against white nationalist Jared Taylor at Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction on March 27, and the Colorado Springs DSA led a protest against conservative political strategist Steve Bannon, who headlined the Colorado GOP gala at the Phil Long Music Hall.

Just days after the Colorado Republican Party announced that longtime Trump advisor Steve Bannon would headline its annual fundraising dinner next month, Bannon made international news by concluding his speech at the Conservative Political Action Committee (CPAC) with a Nazi salute. While Bannon denies that he was invoking Hitler, the “wave,” as he called it, was enough to cause the leader of France’s far-right National Rally party, which was founded by Nazi collaborators, to cancel his own CPAC speech in protest.

UPDATE: The New York Times reports that Boris Epshteyn is likely the “Co-conspirator #6,” named in Trump’s indictment for his attempts to overturn the 2020 election. Assuming the report is accurate, Epshteyn will be the second Co-conspirator with a Colorado connection. Former CU Boulder Benson Center Visiting Professor John Eastman confirmed via his attorney that he is Co-conspirator #2. Eastman is currently representing the Colorado GOP in a lawsuit to overturn the state’s open primary law.
Bannon: ‘Tina Peters Is Now a National Crusade’
“Tina Peters is now a national crusade,” said former Trump advisor Steve Bannon on his Bannon’s War Room podcast Wednesday, joining right-wing conservatives in Colorado who are standing behind Mesa County Clerk and Recorder Peters following her arrest earlier that day.
