‘Twould be a miracle if America
could resist. Reinvent itself as Huxley’s
Island but ‘twould take more than

luck. Even two Millennia’s wisdom
beneath the sign of Holy Cross won’t
prepare us for the new insignias of

a fully manufactured life, as seen
in our wildest scifi nightmares
