Creationism in the classroom, however, despite being a classic schoolhouse flashpoint, hasn’t made much of a splash, at least until now.

Red Dawn: Grand Junction Billboard Notes Russian-Republican Connection
As the clock struck midnight last Sunday, Grand Junction night owls saw red–literally. The digital billboard looming over Rimrock Marketplace now displays a massive crimson and yellow “GOP,” but with the “O” replaced by the Russian hammer & sickle icon used by the former Soviet Union.

In light of Colorado Times Recorder’s recent reporting on false, sexist and racist social media posts by Mesa County GOP Vice Chair Mark McCallister, an article from Sam Brasch of Colorado Public Radio’s Colorado Matters last Friday provides new context to the succession of Republican leadership in Mesa since the 2016 Presidential election, and may indicate a trend toward extremist and hardline positions among the executive officers.
