Commerce City announced a lineup of live entertainment and activities to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month this weekend. The event, scheduled on Sunday, Sept. 22, will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the intersection of 72nd Place and Monaco Street.

The city announced that the festivities would take place in Downtown Derby.

Free activities aimed at family-friendly audiences include face painting, a bouncy castle, craft tables, a photo booth, a Broncos game, and several games of Lotería. In addition to these activities, a variety of community resources like vendor booths provide information and services for attendees like a mobile vaccine unit. 

The live entertainment includes:

Banda La Patrona
  • Aztec Dance featuring Grupo Tlaloc
  • Mariachi featuring the Colorado Youth Mariachi Program
  • Folk Dances featuring Mexico En La Piel
  • Live performances from the music group Banda La Patrona

Local food vendors like El Jardin, GordiBuena, Mariscos Sinaloa, and Tamales by Sara will be present.

The event is being put on through a partnership with Commerce City Cultural Council, Adelante, and Cultivando. 

Adelante Community Development is a Commerce City-based nonprofit organization that was started in the 2008 recession to foster Latino entrepreneurship, leadership, and connections. Adelante has previously worked with the Commerce City government, as well as the Adams County government. 

Cultivando Colorado, according to their website, “is an organization that cultivates the leadership of the Latino community in order to promote health equity through advocacy, collaboration, and social change.” The group has organized rallies for environmental justice and healthcare issues predominantly in Adams County.
