Republican congressional candidate Gabe Evans fired his political director yesterday, following the Colorado Times Recorder’s report on her extensive record of antisemitic, conspiratorial, and violent posts on Facebook.

Jessica Spindle’s firing was first reported by Ernest Luning of Colorado Politics, who tweeted that Evans’ campaign, which did not respond to CTR’s request for comment, informed him of her termination. Spokesman Alan Philp did not return a call for comment today, but CTR has been able to confirm her dismissal via other sources.

The Colorado Politics report, stating that the campaign fired Spindle after “learning of her posts promoting antisemitism, QAnon conspiracies and political violence,” implies that the campaign was unaware of her online statements previously.

But it’s still not known for sure whether the candidate agrees with the views of his former political director, regardless of whether he was aware of the Facebook posts. It’s also not definitively known when Evans first became aware of her views — either directly via conversations with Spindle or from her Facebook page.

Evans himself, as one of her Facebook friends, had access to all of the posts featured in CTR’s reporting, and he has previously touted his military experience vetting people for security clearances. Spindle posted the material both before and while working for Evans.

Following the news of Spindle’s firing, conservative activist Dudley Brown, founder of the far-right gun advocacy group Rocky Mountain Gun Owners, noted that vetting failures such as Evans’ are more frequent in this “Trump GOP era.”

The Weld Re-8 School District, of which Spindle is an elected director whose term runs until 2027, has also not responded to requests for comment. This article will be updated with any responses received.
