Denver will join the general strikes happening nationwide on Friday, Feb. 17, to fight for Democratic principles and express support for marginalized communities under Trump’s administration. Organizers urge participants to attend local actions rather than go to work if possible, or use their lunch break to participate.
Organizers see this as an opportunity for progressives to congregate in their local communities and plan future strikes. The Women’s March has already announced plans for a “Day Without a Woman” mass strike, which is slated for International Women’s Day March 8.
There will be a rally at the steps of Colorado’s Capitol starting at 10 a.m., followed by a march to U.S. Sen. Cory Gardner’s (R-CO) office.

Attend the One Billion Rising rally, a global effort to stand up for the 1 in 3 women who will be sexually assaulted or experience violence at the hands of an intimate partner in their lifetime. That totals one billion women and girls worldwide.
Since 2013, women across the globe have gathered annually in February to rise up against the abuse and injustice women suffer. This year, the focus of Denver’s rally is stand with indigenous sisters.
The rally will begin at 10:30 a.m. this Saturday with a drum circle and flash mob at the Denver Pavilions, followed by a march to Civic Center Park.

Educators have planned a rally in support of racial and economic justice in the education system to take place Monday at 1 p.m. at Civic Center Park. The rally will feature a variety of speakers, including State Sen. Andy Kerr (D-Lakewood).
