An upcoming webinar will help elucidate Colorado’s sunshine laws for those wishing to learn more about their right to access public records and attend open meetings.
It will address topics such as which records may be requested, what to do if you haven’t received records you’ve requested, and the steps you can take if you’re told you cannot attend a public meeting.
Colorado Freedom of Information Coalition Executive Director Jeffery A. Roberts will lead the webinar. He has had a long career in journalism and public policy prior to coming to the CFOIC, including as a long-time reporter for The Denver Post.
He will go over the Colorado Open Records Act, the Colorado Criminal Justice Records Act, and the Open Meetings Law. He will also answer questions from participants.
The web-based seminar is presented by SYNC2 University, a partner of the Colorado Press Association, and SYNC2 Media, which aims to further journalism and marketing education.
The webinar is free for CPA members and costs $75 for non-members. It is set for 11:30 Thursday, September 22, and should last from 30 minutes to an hour. Anyone wishing to participate can sign up here.
