Many religious parents basically agree that education should help give our children the knowledge and skills they need to forge successful lives and to participate fruitfully in society. Some religious parents, though, see education as about training their children to be followers of that religion.
Progressive public education advocates in Colorado have found an unlikely ally in their opposition to Amendment 80 — Christian homeschoolers.
Later this month, Christian Home Educators of Colorado (CHEC), one of the state’s largest and most prominent homeschool advocacy groups, is scheduled to hold its yearly Rocky Mountain Homeschool Conference. The event will feature speeches by numerous activists and representatives of conservative Christian organizations.
