It is time, once again, for Colorado Times Recorder’s weekly recap on Colorado stories about extremism. First up, we have an opinion piece from Logan Davis that highlights the ways that Christian Nationalists in Colorado have been emboldened by Trump’s electoral victory. A coalition of research institutes from the southwestern U.S. has developed a new nationwide, open-access geodatabase that they believe will revolutionize tracking and understanding wildfires.

Fire Station No. 3, also known through its motto “Pride of the Points, has been added to the National Register of Historic Places. History Colorado announced the site’s designation today as part of their organization’s Colorado Heritage for All initiative.
Nine Election-Denying Republicans Were Victorious in Colorado’s Election Last Week
Of Colorado’s 12 legislative and congressional candidates who, in one form or another, denied the results of the 2020 presidential election, only two lost their races in this year’s election, while nine won. Another candidate is ahead by only a few dozen votes. Most of the winning election deniers represent Republican districts in rural Colorado. (Trump, the country’s leading election denier, lost handily in Colorado.)

When the Colorado Times Recorder covered a eucharistic march around a Denver Planned Parenthood, we reached out to the Archbishop’s office for comment. On a chilly November morning, the Archbishop of Denver Samuel Aquila led a Eucharistic procession around a Planned Parenthood health center in Denver’s Park Hill neighborhood ahead of the 2024 general election in which Coloradans will vote on enshrining the right to abortion in the state constitution.
Polis, Pettersen Join Willie Nelson in Supporting Federal Cannabis Legalization and Kamala Harris
On October 24, Colorado Gov. Jared Polis and Rep. Brittany Pettersen (D-Lakewood) joined a virtual rally advocating for national cannabis reform hosted by country singer Willie Nelson. Nelson organized the event in tandem with Vicente, a Colorado-based cannabis law firm, around the issue of cannabis legalization. Referred to as the Cannabis Community for Kamala, the event was moderated by Nelson, his wife Annie D’Angelo, and lawyer Dahr Jamail.
