I am writing in response to the August 27 debate between Jeff Crank and Jessica Killin. I came away convinced that El Paso County deserves a representative who puts service to our community ahead of partisan politics — and that is why I support Jessica Killin for Congress.
As a retired educator and 32-year Colorado resident, I want a representative who listens to all residents, regardless of political party, and puts our community’s interests ahead of political loyalty.
Jessica brings Washington experience and the perspective of an Army veteran. She describes herself as a middle-of-the-road Democrat, and I appreciate her emphasis on practical solutions, listening, and finding common ground.
During the debate, Jessica focused on issues that matter to families here: affordable housing, healthcare costs, tariffs, and the responsibilities of Congress when American troops are in harm’s way. She proposed incentives for starter homes and a first-time homebuyer tax credit. She also called the current tariffs reckless and harmful to our community and economy, questioning whether they are strategic or thoughtful.
On Iran, Jessica questioned how we can be six months into this conflict without a clear strategy or end goal. The consequences are serious — for our troops, national security, the global economy, and energy prices.
I want a representative who will listen, work with people on both sides, ask tough questions, and focus on getting things done instead of getting caught up in political drama.
After watching that debate, I know the kind of representation I want. I’m ready for something different, and I’m supporting Jessica Killin for Congress.
