From the organizers: “Illicit fentanyl has become the number one cause of death in the U.S. for those 18 to 45. More than heart disease, cancer, or gun violence. A national fentanyl awareness movement bringing together families, advocates, recovery communities, prevention organizations, first responders, and community leaders to honor lives lost, raise awareness, and protect future generations. Hope Scheppleman, Senior Advisor for SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration), will be our main speaker, with a few more, TBD. We will also hear from loved ones who have lost someone and from those who have recovered from Fentanyl.”

From the organizers: “This gathering is part of an effort to LINE Colorado Blvd with people standing against an authoritarian regime. We want to be visible to a variety of drivers. In this conversation, Caroline Nutter of the Colorado Fiscal Institute will offer a clear, accessible look at how Colorado’s finances actually work, the constitutional and political constraints that define state budgeting, and the major fiscal challenges and tradeoffs facing policymakers today.”

Next Monday, July 13th, the Denver City Council will vote on a proclamation supporting station area planning at multiple stops in Denver – another major step forward for CoCo. Please join us and show our local elected officials there’s community support for CoCo in Denver.”

Call on Leaders in Hudson To Block ICE Facility from Opening — 6 p.m. — 50 South Beech St., Hudson.

From the organizers: “ICE just awarded the GEO Group a $528.7 million contract to reactivate the Big Horn detention facility in Hudson, CO. Activists are requesting town leadership to meet with Towards Justice to discuss legal options for blocking the facility from opening.”

From the organizers: “A peaceful gathering at the I-25 pedestrian overpass (for visibility) near Cinzetti’s in Northglenn, CO, to urge CO-8 Congressional Representative Gabe Evans to have the courage to speak with us, his constituents. We also want to let other residents of CD-8 know what Gabe is voting for.”
