CO Dems Update Abortion Shield Law to Fight Red State Lawsuits Targeting Patients & Providers
As red states moved to ban and restrict abortion, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton sued a New York abortion provider for providing medication to Texas patients. Colorado, already a destination for abortion patients from Texas and other states, introduced legislation to strengthen its shield law, allowing a medical provider’s name name to be excluded from a medication abortion label, requiring subpoena requests to affirm there is not a request for protected information, and prohibiting compliance with hostile out-of-state actors.
