La Marcha de la Puebla: Heroes not Villains March – 4-8 p.m. – 1561 Quentin St, Aurora
This march is organized by the group La Cultura Del Mundo. The demonstration is set to occur around the GEO Group detention facility that ICE contracts to hold detained migrants.
Saturday, August 2:
We Demand Better for All – 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. – Location: 10795 Victorian Dr, Parker
This protest is hosted by the Douglas County Activism Task Forced and is part of the August 2 national mass mobilization day. The theme in Douglas County is to advocate for strengthening civil rights, affordable housing, medical care, and food, and prioritizing people over billionaires. Rage Against the Regime (Brighton) – 9-11 a.m. – Location: Highway 86 Pedestrian Bridge, at W Southern Street and S. Kuner Road in Brighton, CO
This protest is organized by 50501 Colorado, the same group that was behind the “Good Trouble” an “No Kings” protest of the past few months. It’s part of the 50501 planned National Day of Action. More information can be found on their website.
Aurora NAACP: General Meeting – 10-11:30 a.m. – Location: 16000 E. Centretech Pkwy, Aurora
Denver Libertarian Party: Liberty Toastmasters – 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. – Location: 16th Ave., Denver
Denver Democratic Party HD 4 Meeting – 10-11 a.m., Location: 4116 W. 38th Ave., Denver
Protest at Congressman Gabe Evans’s Office – 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. – Location: 10701 Melody Dr., Northglenn
This is a recurring protest that began back in February that takes place outside of Republican Congressman Gabe Evans’s Northglenn office. The event description reads: “We gather peacefully at Gabe Evans’ Northglenn Office every Friday between 11am and 1pm to urge him to have the courage to speak with us, his constituents. We plead with him to defend our Freedom, our Constitution, and our Democracy. We protest Gabe Evans’ weakness as he remains silent in the face of the staggering level of corruption and other unconstitutional actions of this administration.” The demonstrations are now being organized with a local chapter of Indivisible, a progressive group that has been advocating for peaceful resistance to the GOP agenda.
Rage Against the Regime Protest – 12- 4 p.m. – Colorado State Capitol
This protest is organized by 50501 Colorado, the same group that was behind the “Good Trouble” an “No Kings” protest of the past few months. It’s part of the 50501 planned National Day of Action. According to a post on social media, the demonstration is “a mass mobilization to channel our collective rage against the Trump regime for its weaponization of ICE against our communities, construction of concentration camps, covering up of the Epstein Files, attacks on transgender rights, and its dismantling of Medicaid, SNAP, USAID, the Department of Education, NOAA, and the National Weather Service into collective action.” There are several other demonstrations set to take place in cities and town across Colorado which you can find on their website. Other cities with similar protests include Brighton, Superior, Berthoud, Colorado Springs, Fairplay, Greeley, and Bailey.
The march itself is planned to start at 12:45 p.m. and conclude at 1:30 p.m.
Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and LGBTQ+ Rights Protest – 12 p.m.-7p.m. – Location: 200 E Colfax Ave, Denver, CO – Colorado State Capitol Steps
This is a grassroots protest that aims to draw attention to the indigenous water rights, missing and murdered indigenous persons, tribal sovereignty, and LGBTQ+ rights. More information can be found about the event here.
