The Republican who led the 2019 fundraising effort for the Trump portrait that’s been removed from the Colorado Capitol told KHOW radio Wednesday that he’s heard “some talk” that the White House or the Trump family may have a portrait to hang on the Capitol wall.

“There is some talk, at least, that the White House or the family may already have something in mind to replace it, something that already exists or maybe even something they commission and donate themselves,” said former Colorado Senate President Kevin Grantham on KHOW radio March 26.

“That way, there’s just simply no question [that Trump will like it]. As long as it meets, you know, the criteria of size and style that goes with the other presidential portraits, then why not just do it that way? Otherwise, you know, we could probably get some help from the Donald to maybe do some fundraising.”

Grantham, who said on KHOW Wednesday that he heard “no criticisms at all” when the portrait was unveiled in 2019, created a video to raise funds for the portrait that would be trashed by Trump six years later.

Republicans tried to convince Trump to attend the 2019 unveiling of his portrait at the Colorado Capitol, but they couldn’t book him, even when he was passing through Colorado.
