John Michael Bowlen, the son of the late billionaire and former owner of the Denver Broncos Pat Bowlen, has found himself in controversy.
Once considered to be a likely candidate to inherit the football team, Bowlen shared a video on the social media site Instagram where he repeatedly shouted “white power” and made derogatory comments about people with African heritage. The video, which was posted in the late hours of November 28th, was quickly deleted but was sent to reporters at Westword magazine.
In the video, Bowlen yelled: “The white power crew hits a little harder now, bro!” The post followed a photo of a sporting event with the caption “white f*cking power!!!!!”. The photos appear to be from inside Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The clip goes on as Bowlen continues to rant. “White f*cking power! F*ck Black people. White is right. We’re back, bitches, and we’re saying that sh*t,” Bowlen proclaimed. “F*ck you. White f*cking power!” Bowlen ended the video waving his black leather belt.
A day before, Bowlen shared a photo on social media that appeared to be from the same event as he is wearing the same outfit that he captioned “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN.”
Bowlen has yet to respond to a request for comment on the video. This article will be updated if and when we hear back.
This is not Bowlen’s first foray into controversy. In 2015, Bowlen was arrested for an incident involving domestic abuse and alcohol. A year later, Bowlen was arrested again, this time in California for driving under the influence. According to the report, Bowlen was driving over 100 miles per hour and repeatedly told the arresting officers that his father owned the Broncos.
At the time, Bowlen was a marketing employee with the Broncos, but after his arrest for domestic violence, he was put on an indefinite leave of absence.
Following his father stepping down as owner of the Denver Broncos, Bowlen was initially considered to be among the top contenders to replace him. However, due to the tabloid exploits of the Broncos heir, he would not take over as owner.
