Taking the Western Conservative Summit stage less than an hour before Colorado Governor Jared Polis, Focus on the Family President Jim Daly told the crowd that unborn gay children deserve to be born, no matter their “defect.”
TRANSCRIPT:
I had lunch with Francis Collins, head of the Genome Project. And this is on same-sex marriage issues. He told me Jim, we did not find a gay gene. But let me tell you this: if they had found a gay gene, I would have been the first one to support the life of that child in the womb. You know what I’m saying? That child needs to be born. I don’t care what defect they might have. Physical defect.
I mean think about it, we as people of life -and it may not be everybody in this room- I get it the conservative is a broad tent. But for me as a Christian first and a conservative, I wanna say life starts at conception.
Focus on the Family President Jim Daly, July 12, 2019
Daly followed this assertion with a story he’s told numerous times about partnering with LGBT advocacy organization the Gill Foundation to work on state legislation to combat sex trafficking. He said that believed the Gill Foundation’s lobbyist Ted Trimpa would agree with him that “love is the secret ingredient that unlocks the heart.”
Daly concluded by telling the audience, “we as Christians cannot give up loving people while at the same time not give up the convictions of the truth of God’s word.”
