“Don’t put a fox like me in the henhouse. Vote no on Pruitt for EPA.”
That’s what was written on a note attached to a toy fox delivered to U.S. Sen. Cory Gardner’s (R-CO) office on last week. Colorado Moms Know Best was responsible for the gift, and the moms hope he shares the toy with his young children.
Colorado Moms Know Best sent the gift as a pointed reminder of the importance of environmental policy to the health of Colorado children. This latest action comes on the heels of a “skate in” against global warming the organization hosted Jan. 28.
The U.S. Senate confirmed Scott Pruitt to lead the Environmental Protection Agency last week.
Pruitt has sued the EPA over a dozen times and has consistently opposed environmental regulation in favor of allowing businesses to contaminate the environment.
Colorado Moms Know Best seek to remind Gardner that Colorado’s children are particularly susceptible to health risks imposed by environmental contamination. One in ten children in Colorado suffers from asthma currently.
“Head Mom” at Colorado Moms Know Best, Jen Clanahan, made this statement regarding Monday’s action,
“Clearly, if Scott Pruitt runs the EPA, he won’t be working with me and other moms to help us protect our kids. As parents, we spend our days protecting our children from harm. We count on our government to do the same by protecting clean air for our kids to breathe. The problem is that Pruitt, in his role as Attorney General of Oklahoma, showed us exactly where his loyalties lie.
He demonstrated time and again that he would rather protect the profits of the fossil fuel companies that pollute our air to the detriment of our children. Even kids learn at a young age that you don’t put the fox in charge of the henhouse.
Why on earth would we trust Pruitt with protecting our environment? We hope that our Sen. Gardner will actively oppose Pruitt’s nomination and keep the fox out of the henhouse”
